Jan's love for people and animals is the catalyst for her artwork.

Jan works from photographs that are provided by the family or friend that is commissioning the custom painting. She will first spend time with you to get a sense of what type of portrait you would like to have. Whether it be a formal or informal, candid view, with or without background, etc.

For formal Portraits, professional photographic studio photos work well Photos need to be clear and 8 X 10 works best.

Jan also understands that a favorite family snapshot may truly convey the subject's personality and she will work with you. When family members or pets have past on, sometimes choices of photos are limited but with the technology today photos can be enhanced to help the artist create a lasting treasure.

A photography session with the artist is also an option with an added charge.

Paintings are completed between 4-8 weeks depending on scheduling. Jan uses premium watercolor paints. It is best to keep paintings out of direct sun light to avoid fading.

You can email or send photos or meet with Jan to commission a painting. A 50% deposit is due at the time Jan approves the photos. This deposit is non-refundable.

Jan will email or send you a photo of the pencil sketch for your approval before she starts the watercolor. She will, on completion of the painting, email or send a photo of the painting for your final approval. At this time the remainder of the payment is due. Once Jan receives the balance she will promptly pack and send the painting to you. You will receive the watercolor painting attached to a stretcher frame -DO NOT REMOVE PAINTING FROM STRETCHER. A professional in the field should remove the original art in preparation for matting and framing the portrait.
